Welcome to the Rambler

Welcome to a work in progress. The Rambler is a gift of love from us to you. I’m Dave and my wife is Elizabeth. We’re relatively new in Florida and it took us quite a while before we accidentally made a connection with the vibrant southern gospel scene here in our state. The problem we ran into is probably not uncommon. Unless you go to a church that has gospel events, know someone that does, or have friends that sing, it’s not easy to find out where to go to hear good southern gospel music. The radio stations feature mostly contemporary Christian, and churches and even the FGMA are focused mostly on their own events and communicate with their own members. One night it just fell into our heads that someone needed to put together a website and a calendar and it might as well be us, because we can and it didn’t look like anyone else was going to.

The Rambler’s main purpose in life is to give you a central place to go to find out who is playing where and when. We don’t claim to know all the events. In fact, I rather think most of them are still unknown to us. However, with the help of people like you, we will discover more and more and get the information out there. Gospel music is what rekindled the light in my heart and I believe it is a powerful tool of the Spirit to reach people. Elizabeth and I want to do what we can to help spread the Good News. We’ll be glad to add events to the calendar – you report ‘em, we’ll post ‘em!

Most Gospel groups don’t make much money. If money was what made them do it, they wouldn’t hit the road every weekend and drive long hours to perform for love offerings, eat fast food, sleep in a bus or a van, see their families in passing, and work day jobs to make the ends meet. Most Gospel groups don’t play the big shows in front of thousands of people. Most of the time, they’re lucky if they’ve got more than 1-200 in the house. But they keep on singing and traveling and sharing the Good News, because they are Called. At the end of most every concert, they do an Altar call. Mostly, the folks in the audience are already saved, but they ask anyway. We’d like to see the crowds get bigger and maybe start to pull in people that haven’t yet accepted God’s gift. Maybe if the word gets out, they’ll come to see what the fuss is about, like the music, and stay to be saved.

Anyhow, that’s a little bit about The Rambler. We have a lot of ideas about things we’d like to do here. Some of them are in work, and some may just be pipe dreams, but we’ll try. This is a learning experience for us. It’s a lot of work, but it’s a lot of fun, too. And you know something? You really do meet some great folks at Gospel events. It’s good to meet you, friend.
